There is a great new limited time way to earn MORE Avios, which is the frequent flyer currency of British Airways, Aer Lingus and Iberia, if you have Chase Ultimate Rewards points.
Avios are Lyn’s favorite way to fly to Europe on miles by taking advantage of Aer Lingus’ “off peak” option to fly round-trip to Dublin from major US cities for just 26,000 Avios per person.
The new promotion allows you to earn more British Airways Avios, which can easily be transferred to Aer Lingus for flights to Dublin.
If you don’t have enough Avios to take advantage of a flight across the pond, this new transfer deal might just help you out!
Through June 16, 2019, you can earn 30% bonus Avios when you transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to your British Airways Executive Club (the name of their frequent flyer program) account.
Avios can be redeemed for reward flights on British Airways and partner airlines like Aer Lingus, and you can choose from more than 1,000 destinations worldwide. Avios can also be used for flight upgrades, hotel accommodations and car rentals.
In this scenario, Lyn would transfer British Airways Avios to Aer Lingus and use them to book the “off-peak” deal to Europe. Here are full details on how to do that.
Earning Chase Ultimate Rewards Points
Earning Chase Ultimate Rewards points is easy and you can do earn them numerous ways.
Lyn’s favorite travel credit card is Chase Sapphire Preferred (read Lyn’s full review of this card), as you can earn 60,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after applying and meeting the minimum spend for a low $95 annual fee.
You can also earn Ultimate Rewards points through everyday spending, as well as in the Chase shopping portal.
Chase Sapphire Preferred earns 2x points on dining and travel, and Chase Sapphire Reserve earns 3X points on dining and travel, helping you collect more points more quickly.
Each card has different earning potential and different annual fees, so you’ll need to choose the one that best fits your needs, but know that Chase Ultimate Rewards points are valuable and can be transferred to numerous travel partners, including Southwest, United, Marriott and Hyatt, in addition to British Airways.
How to Transfer Points
- 1,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards (CUR) points = 1,300 British Airways Avios
- 5,000 CUR points = 6,500 BA Avios
- 10,000 CUR points = 13,000 BA Avios,
- 20,000 CUR points = 26,000 BA Avios (enough for one person to fly roundtrip to Dublin using Lyn’s deal!)
This is a limited time bonus offer, so make sure you transfer your points by 11:59pm ET on June 16, 2019 to take advantage.
What a great way to get FREE points to travel to Europe!
