Should you opt for a vacation rental or a hotel? On a trip to Moab, Utah, my family opted for a Vacasa rental, which was a comfy townhome close to the heart of the action in town and offering plenty of room for my family of four to spread out.
Vacasa Rental Moab: Rim Visa 13A2
Vacasa is a vacation rental company that lets you book amazing homes, townhomes, condos and more when traveling.
We opted for a vacation rental in Moab for a portion of our trip to Utah, because we knew we’d be doing lots of hiking and wanted someplace where we could cook breakfast and prepare sack lunches before heading out for the day, as well as wash all our dirty clothes upon return (Utah has LOTS of sand, so your clothes get sandy quite quick 😉).
Surprisingly, when we went to book our vacation rental, the entire inventory of the town of Moab, which is home to both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, was almost completely booked!
It seemed other families had the same idea we did: Hike Utah’s National Parks over fall break 😊.
We were able to find one Vacasa vacation rental available for the dates we needed: Rim Vista 13A2. It worked perfectly!
The Location
Rim Vista 13A2 is in a relatively new set of townhomes just south of the town of Moab. They are within five to 10 minutes of most restaurants, groceries, gas stations and everything you would need.
They are not in Moab’s “downtown” but just outside.
The view from these townhomes was fantastic with red rocks towering above us in every direction.
Accessing the Townhome
The day we were set to check in, the handy Vacasa app provided us with a code to unlock the key on the front porch of the townhome, as well as with the WiFi password.
We had no trouble getting the key and letting ourselves in the door.
Inside was plenty of information about the local area, Vacasa and how we should leave the rental when we checked out (also inside the app).
The First Floor
The first level of the Moab vacation rental had everything a family of four could need.
We loved the full kitchen where we could store lots of waters and drinks, as well as deli meat and cheese to prepare sandwiches, all of which we purchased at the City Market grocery just up the road.
The kitchen came already stocked with dishes, silverware, detergent (for the dishwasher), toaster, microwave and really anything you could possibly need.
There is a breakfast bar, as well as a dining table. I used the dining table not just to eat, but to catch up on a bit of work and share videos and photos of our Utah trip.
Open to the kitchen is the living area with a comfortable large sectional couch and a separate chair, as well as a TV. We enjoyed a movie as a family one night after a long day of hiking!
There’s also a hall closet for storing coats, shoes covered in sand 😉 and some extra blankets and bedding should you need it.
The Second Floor
On the second floor are two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and one with a queen-size bed. Each bedroom has a full bathroom with shower and the queen room has a shower/bath combo.
My youngest loved his bed so much he decided we should “buy” this townhome 😉 . I’m in! I absolutely loved Moab (such a fun outdoorsy town with an adventuresome spirit!) and how cool would it be to have your own place to crash when in town 😊?
Both bedrooms have large closets with space to put away your clothes and more extra blankets for cooler Moab nights.
Also upstairs are a full washer and dryer in the hallway. We stashed dirty clothes in laundry room to keep them out of our bedrooms, and I tried to do a load each night to keep our clean clothes stash full.
Being able to do laundry when traveling with a family is SO helpful, especially when you’re doing lots of hiking and getting very dirty every day!
Outdoor Areas
This Moab vacation rental had lots of nice outdoor space, including a front patio area with a table and two chairs and a large back porch with red rock views, a giant grill and space to hang out and have dinner if you choose.
We also stored our stinky gear out here at night to air out!
The townhome also comes with access to a community area with pool, tennis courts and a playground.
Overall, we loved this unit and would absolutely book it again. We really enjoyed being able to spread out, have our own rooms and have separate floors if someone wanted to watch TV while others were sleeping.
Plus, it was very close to town and accessible to the parks we had come here to visit.
We were sad when we had to leave, only because someone else had booked the rental for those dates!
All we had to do upon leaving was to run the dishwasher, though we went ahead and collected all towels and placed in the laundry room and made sure we had collected all trash in one area, as well.
We highly recommend Vacasa and would absolutely use them again!
