Here’s a great new promotion that allows you to earn coveted Chase Ultimate Rewards points.
These are some of my favorite points, as they can be transferred instantly to Southwest for free flights or to Aer Lingus or British Airways Avios for trips to Europe. We have used both of these frequently!
Points also transfer to United, Hyatt, Marriott and IHG.
Chase Pay Chase Sapphire Promotion Details
I received this via email, targeting me, but check your email to see if you got it, too. If not, call Chase and see if you might be eligible!
Through December 31, 2018, when you use Chase Pay (which is similar to Apple Pay, I’ll explain in a minute) to make FIVE purchases of at least $25 each using your Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve card, you’ll get 1,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points.
It can take up to eight weeks for the points to credit your account.
This makes using your Chase Sapphire card even more appealing to use for holiday shopping. Just be sure you pay the balance quickly so you don’t pay high interest!
What Is Chase Pay?
Chase Pay is an app on your smartphone that allows you to use any qualifying Chase cards (including debit cards if you bank at Chase like we do; use my affiliate GotoTravelGal.com/ChaseBanking to get $350 when you sign up for a new account) to pay for a purchase.
All cards you want are loaded to the app, and this keeps you from having to carry these cards with you or fumble to find them :).
When you get to the register, you’ll open the app and then either pay with a QR code or by tapping “Pay” and choosing the card you want to use.
In some cases, it also allows you to order and pay ahead at participating restaurants. In fact, right now through Nov. 30, 2018, you can get $5 off the first time you order ahead at a restaurant using Chase Pay.
AND at participating gas stations, you can enter your pump number and pay for your gas on your phone. Awesomesauce!
You can also use Chase Pay when making purchases online. It works similar to PayPal. Just tap the blue Chase Pay button, sign in with your username and password and make your payment.
Another reason I like Chase Pay is because there are often coupons and deals that are offered only through the app when you pay using Chase Pay. Check the Offers tab when in the app for even more savings.
How to Get Chase Pay
To get started, simply download the app and then sign in with your Chase log-in and password.
I had a bit of trouble with this at the get-go because I had a business card attached to this same log-in. Ultimately, I called Chase, who moved the business card to a different log-in, and that solved the issue.
What Cards Can I Use With Chase Pay?
Eligible cards you can use include:
- Southwest Rapid Rewards credit cards
- Chase Freedom
- Chase Freedom Unlimited
- Chase Slate
- Chase Sapphire Preferred or Reserve
- Starbucks Rewards Visa
- United Airlines Chase Visa cards
- British Airways Visa Signature
- Disney Chase Visa cards
- Amazon Rewards Visa Signature
- AARP card from Chase
You can also use Ultimate Rewards to pay, but I don’t advise doing that. I’d much rather save them for FREE travel!
Easy Ways to Take Advantage of This Offer
- Pay for gas 5 times (I always spend at least $25! How about you?).
- Use it to pay when you dine out.
- Use for holiday shopping purchases.
- Use it to pay for groceries!
In just five purchases, you can have 1,500 points without spending any extra. I’m in!
