August has so far been a great month for credit card offers. We got the exciting brand new Southwest Priority card (offer ENDS August 22), elevated offers for my favorite SPG cards and there are some great options from Hilton and IHG, as well.

I’ve rounded up my picks for the top travel credit card offers for August!

Chase 5/24 Rule

As always, keep in mind Chase’s 5/24 rule, which means that they won’t approve you for any new cards if you’ve opened five or more new credit card accounts in the last 24 months.

There are a few Chase cards that don’t adhere to that rule, according to Doctor of Credit, meaning you CAN potentially be approved for these EVEN if you have opened five or more cards in the last two years, including several I recommend in this post:

  • Chase IHG cards
  • Chase Hyatt
  • Chase British Airways
  • Chase Aer Lingus
  • Chase Iberia
  • Chase Disney
  • Chase Marriott Premier business
  • Chase Ritz-Carlton
  • Chase Amazon
  • Chase AARP

Also, some business cards may NOT count against you as “five” of the new cards opened, according to Doctor of Credit, including business cards from:

  • American Express
  • Chase
  • Citi
  • Wells Fargo
  • U.S. Bank

Be sure to plan your credit card openings strategically with the above in mind and I always recommend getting the Chase cards you want FIRST due to 5/24!

Check out my travel credit card plan for beginners for some ideas to get you started and for what I recommend.

10. Chase British Airways Visa Signature – 100,000-Point Bonus Offer

British Airways Visa Signature Card

While you’ll have to have significant expenditures to meet this one, if you have a big project coming up, say a home remodel, or have some hefty business expenses you can have reimbursed, I love this offer.

I am a big fan of Avios, which you can earn AND redeem with British Airways, Aer Lingus and Iberia. We used Aer Lingus’ off-peak season offer of 26,000 Avios (their version of miles) to fly round-trip from Chicago to Dublin last year and then make our way on into other major cities in Europe. So I’m all about collecting Avios in any way possible for more trips to Europe!

You can then easily transfer these from British Airways to Aer Lingus on Avios.com and book your a flight for four people to Europe like us! Here are the complete details of how to fly four to Europe for 26,000 Avios each.

Bonus Offer:

  • Earn  50,000 bonus Avios after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months
  • Earn 25,000 additional bonus Avios after spending $10,000 on the card within the first year
  • Earn 25,000 MORE bonus Avios after spending a total of $20,000 within your first year

Annual Fee: $95 (NOT waived the first year)

Offer End Date: None published

Card Benefits:

  • 3 Avios per $1 on British Airways purchases
  • 1 Avios per $1 on everything else
  • No foreign transaction fees

In Summary

Some pretty great deals here don’t you agree? In the mix are some of the highest offers we’ve seen, and be aware of the ones that have end dates, though it’s not to say the ones WITHOUT end dates won’t go away soon, as well.

Which will you take advantage of?
