You’ve heard me talk a lot about Starwood Hotels’ Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty program. Also known as “SPG,” this program not only allows you to earn and redeem points for free hotel nights, but for a host of other benefits like airline miles and, my favorite, amazing one-of-a-kind experiences through the SPG Moments program.

Right now, Marriott is offering a super high bonus of 100,000 points on their Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card and 80,000 points on their Marriott Rewards® Premier Business Card.

Review and compare all current hotel credit card offers in the banner image below or by clicking TRAVEL CREDIT CARDS in the main menu above.

Note: This helps support Go to Travel Gal at NO COST to you by allowing me to earn a commission and pay the blogging bills :), so that I may continue to bring you great information on how to travel nearly free — at no cost. I sincerely appreciate you taking this step!

Turn Marriott Points Into Starpoints

Transfer Marriott Rewards Bonus Points to Starwood Preferred Guest to Redeem for Experiences Like Annoucing “Play Ball” at Wrigley Field! Credit: ChooseChicago.com

Because Marriott now owns Starwood Hotels, you can transfer points between the two programs. Here’s how it works out: 3 Marriott Rewards points = 1 Starpoint (Starwood’s loyalty currency).

That translates as follows:

  • Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card = 33,333 Starpoints
  • Marriott Rewards® Premier Business Card = 26,667 Starpoints

Total = 60,000 Starpoints

While you could certainly use the Marriott points for free stays with Marriott, you could also transfer them over to Starwood Preferred Guest to net up to 60,000 Starpoints that could be used for SPG Moments.

If you previously applied for the Starwood Preferred Guest(R) Credit Card from American Express (personal card) or the Starwood Preferred Guest(R) Business Credit Card from American Express highest offer ever (which is no longer available, but you can still earn 25,000 Starpoints per card after meeting the minimum spend), you can add these points on top of your existing balance, which may already be as high as  83,000 Starpoints.

That means you could potentially have more than 140,000 Starpoints to spend on amazing experiences!
