If you are new to credit cards that offer perks, Discover is a good place to start. They have many cards with no annual fee and are typically more lenient on approvals.
Here is a Discover it Cashback Match Review, which is an easy card to get that offers excellent benefits and savings.
Note: Chase does not like to approve people who have been approved for 5 or more cards in the last 24 months, so be sure you get your Southwest Chase and Chase Sapphire Preferred (or Reserve) cards first if you plan to fly free on Southwest and earn your Southwest Companion Pass. Discover it – Cashback Match
In addition to the above cards, I really like Discover it® – Cashback Match, because it offers quarterly categories (like restaurants, home improvement stores and Amazon) where you can earn 5% cash back on your purchases and 1% cash back on everything else.
We have used the Discover It card to save on Dining at Walt Disney World on our meals, because restaurant coupons are nonexistent at Disney World :).

These typically include Amazon, restaurants, gas stations, department stores, warehouse stores, gas stations, movies and more!

Why I Like Discover it® – Cashback Match:
- No annual fee (so you can hold on to it for a long time, which helps your credit score)
- More lenient with approvals
- 5% cash back on select categories that change quarterly
- 1% cash back on all other purchases
- For new card members they will match all the cash back you have earned in the first year, which doubles your cash back.

- A good way to save on things for which there are no coupons or other savings options!
