The Best Western of yesteryear buried deep in the recesses of my mind no longer exists. They’ve reimagined themselves in more ways than one.
To say I was impressed with their accommodations and amenities is an understatement!

Our Best Western Stays
Aiden by Best Western, St. George, Utah
The first Best Western stop on our Great American Road Trip was located in St. George, Utah at the Aiden Best Western.
When you first pull up, you’ll see a little motor inn where you pull your car right up to the door of your room. You have that impression in your mind now? Then when you open the door to your room, you’ll be very pleasantly surprised at the completely updated furnishings. It looks nothing like you just imagined!
Our room had:
- 2 queen beds
- an upholstered chair with a little marble side table
- a desk
- dresser
- mini fridge
- wardrobe
- 2 luggage racks
- a separate sink area from the rest of the bathroom,
The entire room was adorned with some beautiful landscaped pictures of the area.

As seen above, you’ll find a sparkling pool strung with lights for night-time ambiance, lots of seating and even a little teepee-style chaise lounger.
There’s a small enclosed hot tub and they even have some bikes to lend to customers.
In the morning, they had a hot breakfast buffet, including Seattle’s Best coffee. Our party agreed it was the best breakfast on our western trip.
One last thing that makes this place stand out above the rest is that, as a rewards member, you’ll be treated to an ice cream fountain soda as part of their welcome package. 😃
Best Western Plus Zion Canyon Inn and Suites, Springdale, Utah
The next hotel where we stayed was the Best Western Plus Zion Canyon Inn and Suites. That’s a mouthful!
It’s located in Springdale, Utah, about half a mile from the entrance to Zion National Park, which we found especially helpful when the parking lot at Zion was full as were all the shuttles that were zooming by us! We strolled right over in about 15 minutes.
This hotel’s lobby, fitness center and breakfast buffet are located in their own building separate from the 2-story lodge buildings, which surround the pool area.
The room also had modern décor and included:
- 2 queen beds
- a sofa bed
- a padded bench (which we used as a luggage rack)
- a desk
- dresser
- separate small microwave, refrigerator and coffee station area
- closet
- all-in-one bathroom
The bonus was a small balcony with views of the surrounding mountains.
The pool and especially-needed hot tub (after hiking between 7-14 miles per day 🥾) were very nice with mountain views and plenty of tables and loungers.
The back side of the pool hut holds a coin laundry, which could come in quite handy, if you want to wash your hiking clothes filled with the area’s abundant red sand. The property also has a fire pit with benches.
Here you can enjoy a hot breakfast buffet each morning, so we never left hungry. This was super helpful, since we did many areas of Zion National Park, including the Narrows, all of the Emerald Pools, Angel’s Landing, the Canyon Overlook trail and the Secret Petroglyph trail in less than 48 hours. 🍴
There are many restaurants and other amenities within walking distance, and you’ll be safe with sidewalks on both sides of the street.
One last thing…when we stayed, they put a little basket with replacement towels and toiletries outside your door, which was very accommodating.
Best Western Bryce Canyon Grand Hotel, Bryce Canyon City, Utah
Our third stay was at the Best Western Plus Bryce Canyon Grand Hotel, which is within 3 miles of the Bryce Canyon National Park entrance, making it super convenient.
The day we arrived, it had snowed, so walking into their huge lobby with a roaring fire in their fireplace was the perfect way to start our stay.
This hotel is more traditional in that it’s all in one big building, so you don’t have to walk outside to get to things which was very convenient since it was bitterly cold!
Our contemporary room had:
- 2 queen beds
- an upholstered chair
- a desk
- an all-in-one dresser with mini fridge and microwave
The best part was the bathroom area, which had 2 sinks outside the rest of it. With 4 of us, that was super helpful!
Out the window, we could see a giant pool and hot tub, but it was just too cold to entice us to go down, no matter how much we hiked!
In the morning, there was a huge hot breakfast buffet in the room on the other side of the fireplace.
Best Western Red Hills, Kanab, Utah
Our last hotel of the trip was Best Western Red Hills in Kanab, Utah.
This hotel is a 2-story motor inn, so again you can pull right up to the door of your room. Super convenient!
This room had:
- 2 queen beds
- a dresser
- a full table with 2 chairs, which was a first
- a large closet
- mini fridge
The bathroom was separated, which is always nice.
The artwork adorning the walls in the main building was absolutely spectacular! My favorites were two photos of the Milky Way that someone had taken from the parking lot of the hotel. You’ll have to see it to believe it.
Although the fireplace wasn’t lit when we were there, it had cowhide chairs alongside it, which looked super cozy. You could grab a cup of coffee, which they DID always have on, and sit awhile.
One interesting thing is that they had 2 clocks in the lobby, one with Utah time and one with Arizona time, since they are only 7 miles from the state line.
Outside, there was a pool and hot tub and a large covered patio area with tables and chairs and a gas BBQ grill for guests to use.
The breakfast area was in the lower level of the main building. They had a small room that they used for the buffet area and then the large open room was full of tables and chairs.
Also on this level was a fitness center and game room with air hockey, ping pong, pool and old-fashioned pinball machines. What a perfect way to end the day!
As you can see, each property IS truly unique and has plenty to offer.
