Skiis and Snowboards Fly Free on Southwest

Love nothing more than fresh powder?

If you own your own skis and snowboards, getting it to your destination can be costly, but not on Southwest Airlines.

One of my favorite reasons to fly Southwest is that each person can check two bags free.

That is incredibly helpful when you are traveling with kids both to save money and to feel free to pack as much as you need — even a bag of nonperishable food!

During ski season, Southwest allows you to substitute one of your free checked bags with up to two containers of ski equipment.

The containers may each contain one set of skis or a snowboard, ski poles and ski or snowboard boots to substitute as your free bag.

To be clear they say up to two containers may count as one bag.

Read the details (click on Sports Equipment and scroll down to skis).

Will you be skiing soon? What is your favorite ski destination?
