Now that we’ve all temporarily got A LOT more time on our hands, I expect that there will be an uptick in watching your favorite TV shows and movies on video streaming services like Netflix.

There’s no more sports to watch (I, for one, am mourning the loss of the NCAA basketball tournament, as I LOVE basketball), no more taking kids to and from school or after-school activities and many who worked in an office are working from home with no commute time. At least for the short term…

What to do?

I want to recommend that you look at this time as a way to stockpile miles and points for future travels. If you’re going to be spending money on things like video streaming services, you might as well earn points for doing so … if you can.

I’ve put together this post (with more on the way) to share with you 6 video streaming services that let you earn Southwest points when you’re a new subscriber. And these points ALL qualify for the Southwest Companion Pass, as well, which lets one person fly free with you for up to two years.

If you earn your pass this year by collecting 135,000 qualifying points (read here how you can do that in just TWO steps!), it would be good until the end of 2021, giving you plenty of time to travel after we’re done being stuck at home ;-).

6 Video Streaming Services That Let You Earn Southwest Points

Unfortunately, Netflix is not on the list, but there are plenty more to choose from! Check out our list below, which shares the number of points you can earn with each subscription as of this post’s publish date.

Simply go to the Rapid Rewards Shopping Portal (learn more about how to use the Rapid Rewards Shopping Portal here), type the streaming service you want to subscribe to in the search bar, make sure you’re logged into your Rapid Rewards account and click through to the service from the portal in order to earn your Southwest points at no additional cost.

Points typically credit to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account within three to five days, but Southwest recommends reaching out to them if they have not credited within 15 days. You can do that by clicking “Contact Us” at the bottom of the portal.

Also, be sure NOT to use coupon codes other than the ones provided on the Rapid Rewards Shopping Portal; otherwise, you will not get your points.

video streaming services

1. Disney+ – 550 points

Subscribe to the new and super popular Disney+ streaming service for just $6.99/month or $69 per year and watch your favorite Disney, Marvel, National Geographic and Star Wars movies. If you haven’t seen it yet, binge on the new “Star Wars: The Mandalorian” series. Our family really enjoyed it!

2. Hulu – 350 points

Earn 350 points with new subscriptions to Hulu, but your subscription must be active for 45 days to keep your points. Hulu offers NBC shows, The Comedy Channel shows, original shows like “The Handmaid’s Tale” and now has a live TV/sports option (even though there’s hardly any sports to watch right now!). Pricing starts at $5.99/month.

3. ESPN+ – 200 points

4. Sling TV – 550 points

5. Showtime – 250 points

Watch all Showtime series, movies and sports commercial free. Price is $10.99/month.

6. CBS All Access – 300 points

If the NCAA basketball tournament was happening, this would have been a great streaming service to have, but aside from that, you can watch full seasons of your favorite TV series, live TV, CBS classics and more. Subscriptions must be active for 90 days to keep your points and only one subscriber per household. Pricing is $5.99 or $9.99/month, depending on if you allow limited commercials or not.

Will you be subscribing to any of these services? Did you realize you could earn Southwest points when you subscribe?

Happy streaming ;-)!
